Here are a few issues that I have with spending a lot of time on base.
1. The beauty salon doesn't make you beautiful.
In a moment of desperation, I made an appointment to have my brows "cleaned up" at the base beauty salon. Big mistake! How I managed to leave the salon without having a complete meltdown is beyond my understanding!! It must have been shock that got me from the scene of the crime to my car. I mean, really, how did my normally well groomed brows become 2 very ugly, very crooked, squiggly lines?!! There isn't even a language barrier that I can blame! I should have known something wasn't right when she asked me if I ever use a brow pencil. "Wait...what??"
2. You will often see a lot of the same faces, but you will CERTAINLY run into friends and acquaintances on the days when you fail to put yourself together.
In my defense, it's not easy to get a toddler out of the house (in a timely manner) and occasionally I have to throw on whatever is convenient to speed things up. Unfortunately, convenience has its price. For me, convenience means that I will most likely appear to have gotten dressed in the dark...during a wind storm...with one eye shut...and the other one squinting. Not good.
3. I randomly pick up things from the Exchange/Commissary that I don't need just to pass the time.
4. Most of the food places are down right terrible so your best bet tends to be Chili's. This is actually a good and bad thing because sometimes a girl really doesn't mind a nice buffalo chicken salad. However, as a good eater, having a few food more (convenient) options would nice....
