I love going to the beach...I think

My hubby and staughter adore the beach, and, just my luck, my little bug is a water baby, too. Hence, when the temps start to rise I always lose the battle on whether to go to a pool or the beach. The thing is, I have a few minor beach issues. They're not even unreasonable issues. Who doesn't love the sound of the water and the beauty of the waves? I get that. What I don't get is why some people (i.e. hubby) always prefer the beach to a nice clean pool. Here are my top 4 pros and cons of heading to the coast on a hot day.

1. Pro: Reading a book under an umbrella while munching on fresh fruit and sipping ice cold water.
Con: Dragging an umbrella, beach chairs, towels, a cooler, et cetera across the miles of sand (see background of photo) to the perfect location near the water

2. Pro: The sound of the waves crashing
Con: Listening to the commercials on the radio that the couple next to you very kindly thought to bring with them.

3. Pro: The fine grains of sand under my feet
Con: The fine grains of sand everywhere else

4. Pro: Jumping into the water once it gets too hot to lay in the sun any longer (Note: this would be a pool "pro" as well)
Con: The sense of panic that sets in when you realize that you're in too deep and the gentle waves from the shallow water have become angry waves whose whole purpose in life is to knock you over and drag you out to sea. I'm starting to hyperventilate just thinking about it! Hahaha!

5. Pro: Watching my baby happily throw himself to the ground when the waves splash him...Wait, is that happiness or is he just responding to the sand fleas??
Con: Getting bit by bloodsucking sand fleas that hang out near the water. In case you're unfamiliar with these wonderful creatures, their bite does indeed hurt and yes, they do draw blood. Oh, joy...

So, do I love going to the beach? Well....
Of course I do!!...

I think ;)

  1. (((LMAO)))
I'm exactly the same way...except I drive allll the way down to the Silver Strand because the walk from the car to the perfect location is waaay less...and beach sand is the bain of my existence, as are the creatures in the shallow waters. :(
but alas, the lure of beach scents sometimes make it alll worthwhile!
